GOI-IES Scholarship Essay

Storytelling has always been a passion of mine, helping me connect with others and understand the world. My love for it grew after reading “Teacher Man” by Frank McCourt, an Irish-American educator. His ability to captivate students through stories of his upbringing in Limerick and Irish literature shows me how storytelling can educate and inspire. As a GOI-IES scholar, I look forward to immersing myself in Ireland’s rich narrative traditions, exploring its literature, and discovering new ways to use storytelling as a powerful educational tool. In Vietnam, English education often focuses on vocabulary and grammar without realworld application, making it difficult for students to apply their language skills in meaningful ways.
